2025 me here: There was an image here, no idea what it was.

Yawn yawn yawn. Just woke up, making another honey coffee, cooking breakfast. Read my subscriptions, one of them bummed me out a little but it was good. It’s so cold out today. I haven’t watched any anime for quite a while, I would like to get back into Kino’s Travels. Oh, at an HMV yesterday I was looking at DVDs. I have had my player for 10 months and haven’t bought one yet, I was there looking for a gift though. When I saw the prices, I now know why I don’t have one yet, I need to pay my rent! The Last Exile DVD was $49.99, one cent away from $50! That is for only 4 episodes, approximately 90 minutes. The whole series is 26 episodes… so 7*$50 = $350 for the whole series? No thanks. No wonder anime is so heavily traded online, I get it now. Those DVD discs and case are probably manufactured for about a dollar each and they want $50 for one? What justifies a 4900% markup? It is just ridiculous. I would pay in the $5 to $15 range. I always thought music CDs over $10 were too much. All right, shutting down this rant. I guess I should do laundry or something. This coffee is gross, needs more honey.

What a long, brutal day. I felt so good this morning too. Amazing even. Walking out of my apartment on the way to class, I felt like the spotlight was shining on me and the world existed just to contain my sparkling presence. After the caffeine high subsided, and four hours straight of computer science lecture, I was pretty run down. I went to a campus bar (the Spoke) and ate a nice greasy lunch of a CLT and fries. They had a Simpsons DVD episode playing on the big screen. Kamp Krusty! A Klassic! It just started as I ordered my food too, and just ended as I finished my last fry. Perfect! The highlight of my day. I listened to a few indie rock albums today, Stars, Laurel Music and Elliot Smith (a little whiny for me but still ok.) and also Good Charlotte, as mainstream as they come. I don’t care, it put me into a good mood. Oh yea, some of the Kill Bill vol 1 soundtrack on the way home from campus when I was burned out from coding. I forgot to get sugar when I was at the grocery store. I actually put honey in my last cup (not that bad). I meant to steal a bunch of packets when I was on campus but I forgot to do that too, I am in burnout mode. I also noticed that flash movie I linked to below changes! Only someone who watches it over and over again would notice something like that……

Ran out of sugar this morning… I need more….. I am a total sugar/coffee/chocolate junkie. Yesterday was bad. I ate two 75g Coffee Crisps back to back last night. So unhealthy but soooo good. When I am exhausted I just don’t care. I feel like I am rising from an inferno of an airplane crash site, charred and burned, flames in the background, grim, determined look on my face, ready to plow on. I absolutely killed myself to get my last two assignments in. Now a bunch more are on the horizon. I have let a few other aspects of my life fall behind. Going to have to try and patch some of them up starting in a few hours…. A fun, crazy diversion (this came from a mind working on a same wavelength as mine. I belly laughed at the Saskatchewan part.)

2025 me here: I can’t believe that link still worked in 2025. I downloaded the flash video for posterity.

Eating my vector bar breakfast, hair wet and drying.. I have been listening to the Stars – Set Yourself On Fire album. It’s great! I love it. I have to remember that it’s bad to stray from indie artists, it’s where the originality and innovation is. Seek it out. Indie Torrents Don’t worry, they only share RIAA safe indie music. On the debate last night, I thought Kerry absolutely trounced Bush. It was a massacre. I really don’t understand how this election can be so close. It makes me question reality (I am serious). I wonder if someone is playing a huge joke on me. It’s because Bush is so clearly backwards and incompetent, it is like he occupies the wrong position on EVERY single issue. He is ruining the country, pulling it down towards collapse… yet…. he is even with Kerry in the polls. OK THE JOKES OVER!! I’ve figured it out!!! Lift the curtain. It is just too ridiculous. It is just too bizarre. I’m going to have a good laugh with or at whoever is orchastrating this little play once the truth comes to light.

2025 me here: Unsurprisingly, the old 2004 links are all broken.

I can’t wait for the universities response on this, they are so reactionary over even small issues due to UWO’s perceived party school image. This sure won’t help haha. The following story was from our student paper, the gazette, today. The trailer is here: Porn Trailer and a cheesy porn review here. Seriously, I think I know one of the guys on the boxcover, what a dork. I don’t know how I feel about this.

Porn flick filmed near Western “really popular” at Sin City

By: Marshal Bellamy

Ordinarily, the release of an adult video such as College Invasion 4 would only arouse the attention of a select few; this time, however, many are wondering if rumours of the video being shot near campus are true.

“Prior to advertising I contacted [the production company] and verified it. It’s definitely true — it was filmed near campus,” explained Ian Dunlop, general manager of Sin City Adult Superstore.

“You really can’t tell it’s in London,” he noted of the film, adding the whole event was initially in good fun but has now taken a sour turn for the participants in the house.

“The only bad thing is other people’s moral issues,” Dunlop remarked.

The Gazette visited the house where the video was filmed and although the occupants who participated in the filming last year did not wish to comment, a roommate speaking on the condition of anonymity said his fellow roommates regret taking part in the video.

According to this individual, the participants in the video have recently grown increasingly nervous after a local TV news program ran a story about the house’s past and hinted that the university may investigate the matter further.

Christine Roulston, media relations officer with Western’s department of communication and public affairs, denied any investigation is underway.

“There’s no truth to the New PL story,” she said, though she was quick to distance the university from the making of the video. “The university has no involvement with the production of the film.”

Despite the controversy, Dunlop mentioned sales for the video have been good.

“[College Invasion 4] has been really popular; we’ve already sold out at some locations.”

Did something kind of asshole-ish this morning. Yesterday when I was watching CNN (not a usual thing), this guy named Jack Cafferty was taking shots at http://www.airamericaradio.com/ because they only have 30 or so stations across the U.S. He then contrasted it to the number of stations that Rush Limbaugh and Bill O’Reilly have which is somewhere in the range of 400 or so stations (he failed to mentioned that’s due to the fact that 95% of the radio stations in the US are owned by two corporations). The thing he doesn’t realize though is that Air America radio is hugely popular through online streaming, I listen to it fairly often and like quite a few of the shows. Sometimes the hosts are a little overbearing and the criticism isn’t all together that focused or totally credible, but yes, overall, I like Air America radio (Morning Sedition is a favorite, Mark Maron is dark and funny and cynical a bit like me, more neurotic though). So the ignorance of this old CNN pundit pissed me off so I got his press photo off of cnn.com and modified it by sticking the clear channel logo right on his big old forehead with a little bit of text then I emailed it to his “question of the day” segment. I think it’s pretty likely he saw it because they read emails off on that show pretty frequently. On another note, looking forward to the debate tonight.

So burned out right now. Have to scrape up some motivation. I don’t like having coffee at 1am but it’s a necessary evil. I killed myself to get an assignment done today and now I have to repeat the performance tonight. I feel like just curling up in my pajamas in bed, stretching out and just relaxing without a care in the world. In short, I suppose I want to be a cat tonight… Instead I need to shower, have my coffee and head to the computer lab in the middle of the night to work on another godawful assignment. What a bland post, a procrastination post. I setup a bunch of album torrents earlier, nothing too remarkable, a lot of mainstream since I used supernova and searched for “2004” in various categories. I grabbed a couple off of www.indietorrents.com too though. Laurel Music – This Night and the Next, and Stars – Set yourself on fire. I hope they are good. My hair feels really soft tonight.

October 12, 2004 5:32 am

5:20am. At work. Headache. Weary. I am a rotten employee. I actually used the sauna here for the first time ever tonight. I was cold so I decided it would be a nice way to warm up… it was. This place is very shining-like. A big upscale condo building with old fashioned decor. I am a glorified security guard/concierge with free reign of the place. Sometimes I watch TV in the exercise room, play pool in the billiards room etc. They dress me up in a suit and black silk tie … ehh maybe it’s rayon. Anyway, at night this place is kind of creepy. I don’t like the west wing hallway on the first floor. I’ve worked here for 3 or 4 years (all while a student) and I have known three people who have died living off/in that hallway. It always seems colder than all the other floors (even than the other wing on the same floor) and the light at the end of it always seems unusually bright. It is the only one I don’t walk down when I am checking for damage. Just got a shiver. ANd there was also that one time……..

Crudmuffins. Looks like the picture doesn’t show up from computers other than mine. I’m at work and I can’t log in to my computer from remote desktop connection to fix it either. I installed all these new countermeasures today against adware/spyware/bad stuff and now my web server seems to be blocked as well as my remote connection capability. Pain in my ass. I’m so jittery right now. I have deadlines tomorrow that I have a very slim chance of meeting. I can’t believe I am actually considering more coffee, that would really make things interesting.  Before I went to sleep this morning I ate 6 donuts in a row. When I am really tired my judgement is really fucked up. I should have just went straight to bed because I had all this work to do. Instead I eat this shitload of sugar and play around on my computer, it ruined any chance I had of doing anything productive for the whole day.

(2024 me here, I have no idea what this looked like) <- this emoticon seems to apply to what I am feeling all the time. Disregard the next paragraph unless you see an image below it.

I have my web server back up, so to celebrate I am putting up the photo I took of Caitlin Fairchild in front of the Physics and Astronomy building this summer (sarcastic ha ha ha). I’m probably going to head over there a little later today. Either that or Middlesex college. What a morning. Been cleaning out spyware/viruses from the ole comp. Restoring all kinds of programs due to the fresh install of XP I had to do. I just installed Norton 2005, it is already doing a better job than 2004. Enjoy.

Thanksgiving. Another one where I’m away from home here on the University. It kind of sucks but I enjoy how quiet campus is. This area of the city looks really nice with all the leaves orange and yellow flooding the sidewalks and lawns, the unusual quiet adds to the effect. October is probably my favorite month. I enjoy the fall, Haloween is my favorite holiday and my birthday is this month. 🙂 I keep forgetting to bring in Jasc Paint Shop Pro to work. I wanted to post an image tonight.

Ugggghhh. I need to cut down on the coffee. It really makes me nasty when I have too much. Agitated and just mean. I’m never mean like I am when I’ve had too much. Drinking it at night is bad news. Darkness triggers Melatonin production at the same time Coffee/Caffeine block Adenosine receptors all in the brain. It really is antagonistic hormone action. No wonder I feel so shitty and unstable. Deadlines are closing in. If I felt better I would do more work. So fried though.

Why am I watching the replay of the US debate? It just gets me angry….. I am such a junkie for this US political crap. It disgusts me, yet draws me in at the same time. I need the new adbusters mag. The corner store I was at this morning after work didn’t have it, which is a shame but expected. I bought a 12 pack of these gooey caramel chocolate goodies while I was there. Then I ate 8 of the 12 before I got home. I have to stop eating like that. I am not fat but thats going to change if I keep this up. Buying eggs and milk at the corner store (Beckers) is such a major ripoff. Preying on students who don’t really have the time or means to make it the grocery store. (I work nights and get off at 6:30am, very inconvienient for getting groceries. Also I am in my pajamas and it is 3:50pm.) Thanksgiving weekend. So quiet here on campus… It’s actually quite nice. I grow weary of fighting my way through all the undergrads on the sidewalk on the way to class. I have computer problems I am cleaning up right now…. Spyware! I am shocked at how much accumulated. I am generally pretty savy at avoiding malware. I got a recommended program called Pest Patrol from download.com that seems to be working better than ad-aware. I hate this tedious stuff. I will fell better when things are fixed though.

Watched the big presidential debate. It just reinforced my support for Kerry. The difference in the level of dialogue and knowledge between him and Georgie is so apparent to me. I had the biggest laughs when Bush was asked about what he had done specifically to improve the environment. It made him look like a stammering jiggling bowl of jello. The best he could come up with was he has a program to clean up brown spots in the ghetto. I felt Kerry nailed him well there. Bushy’s answer to the stem cell question made me see red. Those cell lines he mentioned don’t work. They are old and non viable. I was impressed yet again at the depth of Kerry’s understanding during his response to that shit that just streamed out of Bush’s face. This isn’t republican vs. democrat, it is the ignorant and deceived vs. the intelligent and informed.

Ahhh, screwing around right now setting something up that I don’t really have to set up. Wasting time I don’t have. I just need to get to the library to study. Nervous energy right now. I want to go get some work done then come home to watch the presidential debate before work. Met someone in class who had Kino’s Travels on her laptop desktop wallpaper. Kind of a fun little moment when I asked her about it. Alright! I’m off. But first… Ill make more coffee. Listened to a lot of Jurassic Five today. I remember when they were pretty obscure, their last album broke them into the mainstream though. They’re still cool. I don’t latch on to bands that get hugely popular later too often but it does happen. It happened with Nickelback I am embarrassed to say. I remember when they were a little Indie rock band from Western Canada. Their video for Leader of Men was this low budget thing that aired on Indie spotline every once and a while on MuchMusic. It had them grabbing all their TV’s and phones and electronic stuff from their house and burning it all in a big bonfire in front of their house, the type of video that I eat up, for its anti-consumer undertone. Then they got big and signed and remade that video into some shitty dark boring more big budget piece of crap. The track Leader of Men still kicks ass, but hearing any other Nickelback makes me want to puke due to the radio whoring.

Whoa Whoa Whoa, editing this post. It’s Thursday. I am so out of it.

Wonderful, Whimsical Wednesday! I like Wednesdays. When you work weekends (observation: 7 of 10 words up to this point have started with w. ) you start to appreciate the middle of the week. Right now, listening to afternoon jazz, eating soup for lunch. The food situation in my apartment continues to deteriorate. I found some old coffee in the back of my fridge this morning though, so that was a plus. I am going to have to make the trek to grocery store later today whether I like it or not. Eating sandwiches minus the bread, lettuce, tomato isn’t that great. It actually just consists of eating lunch meat straight out of the package. So lazy though. I continue to give anything school related priority. So I have to fix up an assignment a little and get that in today. Groceries after I suppose. Bleah. A million things to do, just want to fall asleep, dont want to leave for class in 15 minutes.

Pigeon warfare! Well not really, but today I moved my plants in from my balcony and there were eggs in one of my pots. Now I have been very patient with those pigeons all summer. There have been 3 healthy babies born out there that I did not interfere with. They monopolized my deck and covered it in guano. It is quite disgusting. I allowed it all to go on because well, I am just nice. But today it was time to bring my plants in. I had to clean most of them of pigeon grossness. I was kind and gently moved the eggs from the pot to the remnants of one of the old nests they built. The mom was clueless though when I got all my plants in and couldn’t find her eggs because they were shifted a meter to the right. Stupid stupid pigeon creatures. So I grabbed my dustpan and scooped up the old nest with the eggs inside and put it back to where my plant with the eggs was. I will have to go see if the mom found them soon. I have doubts these eggs/chicks will make it because it is October and this is Canada. It’s starting to get pretty cold at night.
