My desktop computer died apparently. It won’t start. I was hoping it just overheated and would start up when cool. No luck. So that’s a mystery. Now all the old pictures and music on this site won’t work because they were all hosted from there. My angry monkey synopsis was typed from the University Community Center on my laptop. So I’m cut off from cyberspace at home.

And now I’m stuck here at work on Friday night. Good times. Woohoo. Yeehaw. I felt like going out tonight too. While at home today, I listened to campus radio where they announce all the local live music shows. I could go for some of that right now. Earlier this week I went out to a bar for the first time in a while and it felt pretty damn good. I feel I could get sucked into the local music scene easily. So it’s good that this job puts the reigns on that I suppose. It helps to grow the funds in my “run away and hide from Merle at the end of the summer” account.

Anyway, it was a pretty crummy day but had some highlights:

(1) I bought a pair of super spiffy shades to replace my broken ones. Almost the same style but smaller, sleeker and darkly mirrored. Nice and cheap too.

(2) I was sexually harassed by my female butcher. (I don’t think I’ll ever be able to ask for hot Italian sausage with a straight face again….)

(3) My Dwarfdom comic arrived.

(4) I bought some stylin’ softboot K2 inline skates in a clearance sale at sportsmart. I was debating whether to buy a mega cheap pair for twenty bucks at a department store or a nice pair like these ones for more. The sale and excellent salesperson cinched it. He looked just like Scooby’s Shaggy and called me dude. I liked that. The skates were incredibly soft too. I’ve never put my feet into anything so comfortable in my life. I had a foot orgasm right there in the store. Shaggy knew his stuff. That said, it’s clear I’m going to kill myself wearing them. For a kid who lived on ice skates growing up, the shaky, tentative skate I did on the way home was most humbling. I WILL learn these things though.

  1. I’m sorry about your computer. Life sucks, eh?The fact that you’re suffering makes me evilly glad that I’m not the only one who spends Friday nights working. <grins wickedly>A fund to get away from your neurotic girlfriend? Why don’t you just hire an assassin to get rid of her? Then you could spend the extra money on a pet monkey, which would be a better companion anyway. Is the dwarf comic good? Would you be so kind as to summarize the plot and ending for me, so I don’t have to cough up the money for it? Thanks much.Skates, butchers, and shades are cool.

  2. Yay! I’m a Menace to Society!  I think I’ll change my Xanga name to that…but waig, people may think I’m a rapper.  Sorry about the computer, we had the same thing happen back in February.  I personally got more stuff done when the computer was broken though – you may find the same thing…but I get the feeling you’re the type who gets stuff done despite the computer.  Hope your day improves immeasurably.

  3. PS  Rollerblading is so much fun.  I haven’t done it in years, but when I had a rollerskate party at a local rink last year, they let you bring rollerblades in now.  One of my friends has his own pair and just rocked the house!

  4. Does your laptop just not turn on at all or can you turn it on, but it doesn’t do anything? Because if it is the latter of the two, it might be a Trojan. That’s what happened to ours last year. Lost the whole hard drive because of it. You could turn on the computer but it would not do anything.I tried roller blading a few times, but I just don’t have any balance! I’m told that Canadians should be naturally good on skates, but I’ll just stick with the snow shoes. ~.~

  5. Violence really is the answer. To everything.I prefer skates to blades, but to each his own. There’s a great roller rink here in SoCal called Moonlight Rink, and on thursdays they have “Organ night” which at first i thought was referring to the state, but soon found it referred to thier playing Organ music and attracting hordes of old people. Thursday night rollerskating soon became a weekly ritual for me and my friends.

  6. I’m laughing hard at #2. Aahahahaha! You know, my unofficial lab partner (we’re not technically supposed to partner up) is an even older undergrad than you. He was born in 1978. He’s also graduating soon.

  8. Oh, yeah, I forget that some people can ice skate without killing themselves.  Seriously, I have nothing but the utmost admiration for anyone who can ice skate, let alone play (and be good at) a competitive game with pucks and sticks while they’re doing so.  You rule.  You’ll have the inline skates down in no time.
