Has anyone seen the Lover’s Vow part of the Tales from the Darkside movie?

I’m not schizophrenic. I promise.

At three a.m. here at my job I am supposed to do a building wide patrol checking meter readings and doing visual inspections of specific rooms (the 7th floor mechanical room, elevator rooms, roof, water rooms, high voltage room etc.). The route spans all over the property from the top floor to the underground spider webbed and occasionally bat infested storage area. I am really used to doing it so it is almost reflexive now. Certain doors I just push open, glance in for a quarter second and then shut, marking a checkmark on my list and clipboard. Tonight I opened the door that goes to the roof and let the scene reflect onto my retina for a few frames and shut the door quickly and automatically as I have done hundreds of times before. As I turn to walk away in my foggy 3am haze… it hits me. What was that? I freeze. The door is now shut and locked and I have to decide if I want to open it again or just pretend I didn’t see it. Except I can still hear it through the door. Crunching. Loudly. I decided just to walk away. I don’t think I’m going to be checking the door to the roof anymore.

Ever since I took this night job, I have been taking reality with a grain of salt. On the same patrol route there is this one door in the basement of the manor house that always bangs in its hinges every time I walk by. I keep telling myself it is me disturbing the air that somehow makes it jump outwards. I don’t know. I probably shouldn’t overthink this.

Exam number number one is coming up in about 16 hours. Been flying through the material but I know it is barely sticking. Study quality gets dangerously low after 2am. My little study break patrol certainly woke me up though. Wish me luck.

  1. My friend has lived in a haunted house all of her life.  And i visited her often during my highschool years and since actually… they have a closet door that never “wants” to be shut.  Everytime i go in the house i would shut it everytime we’d go back in the room after being out of it it would be open again.
Then there was the time that i came to pick her up for school and the wood holder by the fireplace started moving.  I kept talking cause well sometimes nothing can get me to stop even though i was shocked by it.  And after finishing my normal everyday sentence i looked at the shaking wood hold and forcefully said, “stop that!”  and it stopped instantly.
I think sometimes the ghost, spectors, paranormal don’t really mean to freak people out it just does it not knowing what’s going on.  like another dimention.  Maybe next time you can tell whatever’s there that you don’t particularly like it when your doing your patrol and happen upon them.  I think they can be just as logical as us living humans. More than likely they or whatever doesn’t want to come across you anyway.

  2. You think it’s hard to study at 2 am? Believe me, it’s harder to study when you have food poisoning. My exam is on Mon, and I started throwing up on Fri at 4 am. Sat is a blur. I slept for about 22 hours without a break. My body aches and I can only have liquids for awhile, so I’m starving. I ended up in emergency and on IV and all that. Bad bad weekend. I have to figure out how I’m going to study today. Not looking so good.
I hope that didn’t make you feel gross. Good luck with your exam. What is it in?
Yeah, stay away from that door. Sounds disturbing.

  3. A little two foot santa decoration climbed down from its table yesterday. My tooth hurt so much I didn’t care and thought to myself, “Ehhh whatever. I’m in major pain, I’m not going to let the weirdness of this place get to me tonight. If the Santa decoration wants to do his thing, then he can do his thing.” I still haven’t opened that door since this post. I’ve frozen in front of it as I remebered and then walked away.
