I’ve had one date post-big breakup.
Coffee shop after work.
She was cute, a little short with very high energy. She talked in a fast, and booming voice.
I couldn’t keep pace. I’m too low key. I didn’t offer enough interesting conversation. It went on too long, over two hours.
I didn’t do anything to bring us together. Maybe I wasn’t really interested. Too passive.
It takes time to get to know me… how am I supposed to get past the first date?
I am so incredibly rusty. Maybe it was always rust.
I’m trying again this week with someone else.
I thought I left a note, but apparently not. So I’ll try again.
The best part of a relationship is the getting-to-know-you phase, when it’s all about discovery and exploration. As a scientist I’m surprised you don’t create hypotheses and collect data on the people you’re with. I always played it as a game and unfortunately, that means you usually lose.
In the meantime, you might want to get yourself a teddy bear or a kitty to keep you safe and warm and cozy (and they make for a great converation piece)

Maybe meeting at a coffee shop wasn’t a good idea…? Seemed like she didn’t need any caffeine lol…Two dates eh? That’s pretty quick stuff. You must be a stud ;PYour blase attitude probably says a lot about that connection you felt… I don’t know if it’s “rust” that’s the problem, because you were good enough to score back-to-back dates (i repeat — stud lol). I think it’s a chemistry thing. If a certain someone rubs you the right way (I don’t mean that literally), everything flows.. Sure, you may be kind of a closed person but maybe if you were comfortable enough you would have been able to open up? idk I don’t know you so I’m just typing whatever is entering my mind at this late hour so I apologize for my ramblings =)good night
