My private comedy of errors continues. Turns out the man who crashed into me from behind is a lawyer and has filed a claim and is lying about which lane he was in to shift most of the liability on to me. So I have to go to the police station and give the details now. Officially I’m just visiting here but Merle’s mom told the insurance woman I was living here, which is a mistake because then I’m not an occasional driver and the insurance wouldn’t cover me. Then Merle later told them I was on the way to a job interview which cements the living here story. And the Harvard guys now want my references which means there’s a solid chance they want to hire me but they stipulate I must include a research mentor reference. But I had a frosty relationship with my research mentor at best and he’s always impossible to get a hold of. And I left my cherry chap stick in my shorts and Merle did laundry and it stained a whole bunch of her clothes with red streaks. And I have to mow the lawn but can’t get the decrepit family lawn mower to start and my hand blisters hurt still. The End.

  1. Lawyers are evil. And you met up with one of the ones on the lower levels of Hell. I had a helluva time trying to find a job in the US. A few places wanted to hire me and, though I tell them right off I am not officially an American, their reason afterwards for not hiring me was because I wasn’t official. Hopefully you’ll have a better time with the bureaucracy than I have had.

  2. So aren’t you glad you have Xanga?    I am wishing you better luck from Kansas.  Wait a minute, that might not do you any good.  When I am in Missouri tomorrow, I’ll wish you better luck from there.  It’s days like this when you wish American public transportation wasn’t such a joke, right?  Wait a minute, doesn’t Boston have an okay public transportation system?  Either way, I read the magic words in your post….”Harvard wants to hire you”.  So there’s the positive statement.  Let’s focus on that and hope you don’t get deported because of the cheesy icky lawyer dude.  Maybe your frosty research mentor will think it’s cool that someone he worked with could work at Harvard, it would make him look good in the long run.

  3. Now that’s sucky Stupid driver. It was his fault!!! I hate how people can’t take the blame for themselves. My mom always checks pockets before doing laundry, to avoid little bits of kleenex on all the clothes and fun stuff like that. She keeps what she finds, and that includes money. And notes. And she would read the notes too.

  5. I’ve always wondered – are the Beatles trying to spell out “Help” on that album cover? Cuz it looks more like “TYLX.” At least they got the “L” right. Thus cementing my theory that Paul is the smart one.
